himmelfjll-sweden: Idre Himmelfjäll | Dalarna, Sweden
Idre Himmelfjäll is a new mountain resort development in the Dalarna region of central Sweden. The project involves the development of approximately 8 major lifts, 214 Hectares of skiable terrain, a mountain club and snowsports center, a Nordic ski center and trail system, a fishing outpost, and an 18 hole golf course. It also includes the development of approximately 7,000 new beds in various offerings from high density village settings to intimate slopeside cabins. IAD’s design philosophy draws from the local materials and culture. This family friendly resort will benefit from a thoughtful plan that locates real estate to be completely ski in-ski out and amenity based.
IAD was retained as the projects master planner and hired to design all aspects of the resort real estate and amenities. IAD’s services have included site suitability and land capability studies, land use concept planning, project visioning and visualizations, design development master planning and detailed site planning, as well as a detailed economic and business planning. Himmelfjäll is currently in its initial phases of implementation.
