Project: Burke Mountain Village Planning
Location: Burke, Vermont
Client: Ginn Clubs & Resorts
Team: International Alpine Design + Stantec
Renowned for its breathtaking views and ski racing heritage, Burke Mountain is the best kept secret in the Northeast. Home of Burke Mountain Academy, the most highly acclaimed ski academy in the country, with 45 Olympians to its credit, Burke Mountain features winding trails, averages 217 inches of snowfall per year, offers 45 trails and glades on 250 acres of terrain and a vertical drop of 2,011 feet. A unique blend of friendly, genuine service and traditional terrain define the character of one of the last remaining Vermont ski classics. Burke Mountain was purchased by Ginn Clubs and Resorts in 2005. Ginn retained IAD to perform a base lands and ski area master plan. These plans included a hotel, owners club, condominium units, slopeside single-family homes, and a multitude of retail, restaurant, and skier service facilities. The goal of IAD’s work is to transition this small day-use area into a full service overnight destination resort.
